One of the joys of being a highly sensitive person (HSP) is in using our “superpowers” for good, to champion and highlight not only the HSP trait to raise awareness, but to share our vision and view of the world as a place filled with beauty, hope, and love. Each day, each moment, we have the opportunity to share this superpower and claim our sensitivity as a gift. In this powerful French short film, “Peau de Poulet” (translated: Chicken Skin) by Francois Boulet, he articulates through images, video, voice, script, and music a compelling case for claiming sensitivity as a superpower in just two minutes and twenty seconds–an incredible feat and gift to the world.

French Short Film HSP Trait Script (Translated from original French)
As far as I can remember, people have always said that I was a sensitive person, even too sensitive.
School wasn’t always a pleasure.
It was often the source of my [Applause]
I can still see my mother consoling me and explaining that a girl from a good family should be dignified and strong, but why did I let myself be overwhelmed by my emotions for so long?
The first time I left my parents’ house for school, I went seven days without going to the bathroom.
When they questioned me, I didn’t know the answer.
I turned all red when I was scared.
My hands spoke for me, but the worst part was chewing.
Oh, apart from these little annoyances, what a pleasure to feel things with such intensity.
I still remember what I felt when I heard Ravel’s Boléo for the first time.
It was as if in a fraction of an hour, A second a wave of happiness had washed over me, a wave too intense to contain, a wave that leaves me.
As my mom used to say, a little chicken skin, so no, sorry mom, but I love it, I’ll keep it.
It suits me so well.
Maybe I’ll think about it when chickens have teeth and pigs fly.
